A general transmission question applying to all vehicles

need advise for a friends ford

Amazing.

Ford owners view of their trucks seems to be a lot like saying, "yes, my wife is sexually promiscuous, completely unreliable, throws away my money, and is very costly to support, but she sure is good looking. "

Poor Ford guys. I find it very difficult to understand.

I'll be damned if I would spend that muck for a truck for them to rip the cab off to replace a oil line! one more reason to own the tried and true inline 6 that can be worked on without tearing half the truck apart! if the V8's are so good why don't the over the road trucks run them? oh well not my money!!!

That is the reason the lift companies have comeout with the newer styles of post lift's lol to keep the furd guy's happy so they can get there Junk fixed

Thats the number one Reason I wont and didn't buy a Turd :)

There is only one time I wouldn't mind seeing my truck like that. Thats 40+ years from now doing a body off restoration.

Having to do 6+ hours of work to do what we can do in about an hour with a 30 minute beer break. Thats nuts.

Maybe Ford should install permanent hydraulic lifts under the four corners of the cab, wingnuts on the cab to frame bolts, and quick disconnects on all the plumbing and wiring links to ease future cab removals. The cabs will be removed again, and again, and again for those who attempt to put miles on them.

Or, a simpler solution; why don't they junk that Navistar scrap iron and install reliable in-line six cylinder diesel motors?

Better yet Furd's new Idea is to try n build there own motor's I guess we will see if it"s trash like the 6. o no n the 6. 4 twin turbo Trash :)

? Did I read this right, 6 hours labor to remove the cab to replace
a 1. 00 'O' ring. ????

Those trucks will have 'O' resale value... .

I was a ford guy untill Dodge dropped in the Cummins. Boy did I make the right decision!! How can someone buy a Ford knowing repair is so complicated. Once their outa warranty they are screwed!

Yeah exactly, what's going to happen when these things get a few years old and start piling up in dealers' lots? The only reason I can afford a nice truck is to be able to do most of the maintenance and BOMBs myself. If I had a SuperDuty & something broke on it I'd be in some super doody

It will be interesting to see what happens to the value of 6. 0 and 6. 4 Ford trucks when (IF?) Ford introduces its own diesel engine in 2010 or whenever it is promised.

That will be a pretty clear statement of what Ford thinks about the Navistar engine it installed in so many trucks.

Thats probably one of the best quotes I've ever heard about Ford guys:-laf...

I wonder how many mechanics are hating there job at ford.

Maybe they aren't? Always working on new trucks, not some greasy old beater. Not getting a sore back from leaning over a fender, just pull the whole cab off and walk right in!

Oh, and don't forget, big time job security!:D:D
