My turbo suddenly started howling this afternoon. I mean suddenly! I thought an emergency vehicle was behind me at first. I checked the boots & hoses. I pulled the air intake hose & looked att he compressor wheel. It spins fine & without much bearing play. There was a tiny bit of what looked like engine oil on the bottom of the silencer ring. I've never seen that before. Can any one explain why a turbine with 59,000 miles on it would would suddenly start whining?

Proly the Mad , The APB , And Mach 1. 5's on that otherwise stock 14cm 35 aughta do :-laf When howling does it sound much like blowing across a beer bottle? It must bark real easy with that setup on a six speed and it prolly lunched itself over time and finally done did it.

Honest, I've never barked it. I haven't really been pushing it real hard either. I only run the APB about 1/2 way up & I almost never use WOT. I am wondering if I've over revved it & the bearing or oil seal is going out.

I don't know if the whine was from the play in the compressor shaft or not, but I installed my new Dodgezilla this afternoon & the obnoxious loud whine is gone. It was a piece of cake. I left the turbine housing & exhaust brake in place & just removed the center bearing & compressor housing. Cruising egt is up maybe 25* is all & turbo lag time is only slightly slower with much better smoke control under heavy load with about 38 psi as maximum boost.
