Turbo Whine

How much turbo whine can I expect from my engine? It's been getting louder and louder. I get the feeling something is going bad but not sure. Any thoughts?

Is everything Ok under the hood? Maybe your intake came loose from the turbo. Can't see it getting louder any other way.

turbo whine? check your play in the shaft! side to side I was just playing a little bit and my turbo let loose!! It was whinning a lot check play . . not too bad but by the time I got home it started to chatter fins where SMALLER than they should be !!! :{

The sound has been much louder since it's been colder. It kind of sounds like the wind howling in between houses. I can really hear it at low speeds under 20 MPH. And of course when it spools up. It could be normal and its possible that I just haven't noticed it before. It's going in to the shop tomorrow for the safety recall so I'll have them take a look at it. I hope it doesn't turn out to be one of those "You've got a box so we're going to void your warranty thing" I'm gonig to take it out and strip the velcro but you never know.

Where are you getting 100HP? Level 3 is only 60 HP. Never use 4 or 5. Just too risky. I seriously doubt that my intake and aeroturbine are giving me much extra. This is assuming my engine is putting out 325 to the wheels. I doubt that too.

I get a howl out of mine that sounds like what you are describing. We checked shaft play on the turbo and everything was within spec. I have talked to a few other people that get that goofy howl as well. I have yet to figure it out but, it is a tad annoying. I'm torn on putting on a SPS62 or building twins so, I can't decide what to do with the turbo and as long as it is working, I will probably remain undecided

Thanks Camp, appreciate the information. I'll wait until it warms up. When the temp gets above 60 degrees it stops howling altogether so I think it's a temp related issue. I'm not going to worry about. I'm still putting out good boost. I took my Edge J/A out for a while too just to test mileage. So far, the edge isn't reall helping me out that much.
