I bought a Turbonetics intercooler from Thoroughbred Diesel. It was supposed to be a direct replacement for the stock intercooler. It came with pipes and hoses to connect to a stock set up only. I have twins and other modifications that would not hook up to the intercooler. Problems, I call Thoroughbred Diesel and they say they will do anything they can to make it right and give me the number to Turbonetics. I call Turbonetics and get a young lady on the phone who says that I am basically out of luck because their coolers will only work on stock trucks. I asked to talk to someone from technical, one day later I finally get to talk to an “engineer” who tells be that he is very sorry but they cannot make set ups for every application (I agree) and therefore I am ***** out of luck. I am not going to bad mouth Turbonetics because it appears their intercooler is a very well made intercooler. However, the difference between good customer-service, like you get at Geno’s. BD, or Thoroughbred will not be found at Turbonetics. They were very uninterested in my problem and just wanted me to go away. I will never buy another thing that has the Spearco or Turbonetics name on it. Just my two cents and I am sure that others have had good experiences with them. Just be warmed that they are not a real “flexible” company.

Did you order from Thoroughbred after talking to them? Quote from their website:

"Buy from a experienced diesel performance and repair company, call us tollfree at xxx, we give free advice. "

How come they didn't tell you it wouldn't fit your application?

Why did Thoroughbred tell you to call Turbonectics, after they said they'd "do anything to make it right"? IMO, Thoroughbred, if they are what they advertise, should have given you the correct advice, or at least personally take responsibility for making it right, which should be more than giving you a phone number to call.

No intention here of personal criticism, just commenting on my take on the information in your post.

I hope it works out for you, and I'm not associated with Turbonectics in any way.

Thoroughbred Diesel thought they might have a different pipe set up for twins; figuring there were so many out there. My main complaint was just the attitude of Turbonetics, it was like they did not care if I was satisfied with their product or not. Thoroughbred said they would bend me a pipe or do what ever else was needed to make it right. Thoroughbred was also under the assumption that it was a direct bolt up. I guess what I was looking for was a inter-cooler that was made to the same specs (as far as size) as the one I took off, therefore a direct bolt up. The one Turbonectics sold was a complete piping system plus inter-cooler which was not what was advertised, in my opinion. The intercooler even had diffreent size pipes welded to it. I fabricated some pieces and made it work, Turbonetics could have done the same thing and had a very happy customer. To me direct bolt on replacement means it looks, feels, and bolts up to like the existing system. Turbonetics sold me a bolt on system. Had I of know that I would not have bought it. Having said that if Turbonectics would have at least tried to work with me I would not be sitting here complaining about what appears to be a well made inter-cooler. I try to give companies that care about their customers good write ups on this site and I use it when I buy something. ON the same note, when companies like Turbonetics, have such poor customer service, I like to warn people. This was not a personality conflict, this was a company that just did not care if they kept my business or not. The inter-cooler was $1400,00 a big chunk of change for me apparently chump change to Turbonetics.
