2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Turn ignition off and truck keeps running

This happened a few times lately, I shut the ignition off and the truck keeps running, I turn it back on even all the way to start and nothing happens. When I turn it off all the guages stop working like the engine is off while it is still idling. Leave it in the off position and the engine eventually shuts off, does it sound like the ignition is shot or what?

check your fuel shut off solenoid...

I was having trouble starting and then trouble shutting down. It turned out that the clevis at the bottom of the shutoff solenoid was rusting. I doused it with anumber of products, but none seemed to keep it lubed enough to work on its own. I left it in the "run" position for a bit until installing a manual choke cable. Very nice mod-- Glad I did it.

A couple questions here, where is the fuel shut off solenoid located, what am I checking it for and last but not least how do I check it?
