Hey guys,

Yesterday I noticed that my left turn signal was flashing really fast like when a bulb burns out. Checked to see which was out and they were all working. Then last nite after work, with the headlights on, the left arrow indicator on the dash was lite up. Did a walk around and everything was working except the left front. Got driving down the road and went to set cruise, indicator on dash came on, but would not set the cruise. Now with the left signal turned on, I can hear a relay clicking below the left battery. Felt down there and a piece that wires to the vacuum pump is where the clicking is coming from.

Im not sure where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Wires to the vacuum pump? No wires there, just an air hose. You need to investigate a little more. Did you pull and/or replace the signal bulb? Sometimes when a bulb fails it will short out internally.

Sorry, didn't mean wires. Yes the hose comes from vacuum pump to another piece under the left battery box and that's where the clicking is. I did put in a different bulb and still was doing it.

That would be the cruise control module. It has both a vacuum line and wires. To get to it you have to remove the battery. The battery tray has two nuts that are accessed inside the wheel well. It shouldn't be clicking if the CC is turned off.

The turn signal issue is typical of a bad ground for that bulb. I don't have a diagram for a 97, but I wonder if the left turn/parking lamp ground is shared with the cruise control module. Just a thought...
