Turn signal flasher in-op

Has anyone had trouble with their flasher unit in a 2001. My turn signals are intermittent. They work most of the time, but at least once a day they will not blink. If I knock on the flasher it willstart working. I was going to just replace it, but received a SHOCK 41. 00 and 52. 00 at the two closest dealers. I won't let them touch my truck for warranty and the nearest decent dealer is in Billings,MT 300 miles away.

For awhile last week, my turn signals did a funny think. When I tried to use the passing aspect, i. e. not pushing the handle far enough up or down to fully engage it, the sound of the flasher was very rapid and there was no flashing signal on the dash. Since I was alone, I could not check to see if there was a signal outside. If I fully engaged the lever so it would stay in the turn mode it was o k. Wondering whether its a failure developing???

Turn signals on other rigs I've owned blink fast when a bulb is burned out. Not sure what a Dodge does as my bulbs are all still stock,pretty good, five years maybe they'll last as long as the engine!

The 2000 Ram flashes 120 or more times-per-minute with a burned out bulb, this from the service manual as I have yet to have the experience.

why won't you have this repaired under warranty. I had a fuse for the alternator go bad. responded to dealer. diagnosed. repaired. on my way. price---$0. 00

My problem is that the very rapid flasher noise only happened a few times one day, a week ago. Since then all has been normal.

Vaughn,sounds like you might have a loose bulb or connection that mimics a burned out bulb. Those intermentent problems are the hardest to figure out,I usually wait till it does it all the time before tring to figure it out.
