Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Turning on headlights kills engine

Hi all,first post.I have an 01 automatic w/198k miles. When I turn on the headlights the engine dies, also noticed that the "lights on" alarm only beeps once if you turn the lights on with key off and door open. Got codes 1689,1693,1694,scanner said No comm. between ECM and IPM.
ECM detected it could not communicate with IPM. #1 Failed IPM #2 Open or shorted circuit. Alternator and batt. test good. I cleaned grounds but still no good. HELP ! Thanks in advance
