I'm wanting to turn up the fuel a bit.

I'm debating between a #11 or a #10 plate in conjunction w/ 3k springs.

Not wanting to go crazy - just some extra power.

Don't want to have to wory about the stock clutch or too much smoke.

I've seen mention of going w/ the #10 and sliding it rearward a bit.

How does that compare w/ a #11?

The truck is a daily driver and occasional towing of a 4500# boat.

I will tell you this because your sig says you have gauges. why dont you slide your stock plate forward and play with your star wheel a bit? that should get your egts/boost up enough to see how important big exaust and hi flow air filtration is and after you get some (at least 4" ex) hold the head on with some thing other than stock bolts (that stretch at 30-32lbs boost) I used a set of allen head grade 12 and two diffrent size washers (to fit in between rocker covers) they cost about 60-70 bucks then look at clutches and secure the 5th gear nut. "prevention is cheeper" have fun bombing!!

Power ugrades

I would go with a #10 plate and slide it around until you get the power you want. I have mine slid back so a 1/4 " drive fits in front of the plate. This gives me ~32 psi of boost with safe egts. From my knowledge the turbo's safe and efficient operating range is <32psi. This means the drive pressure doesn't exceed the driven pressure. This means your headgasket won't fail (hopefully). You can upgrade fueling and airflow for more power but I feel that this is the safest route regarding cost, clutch, etc. With my setup egts are safe, smoke is low and power and excelleration are quite good. As for the GSK a lot of guys have them and like them. I would maybe try the plate first by itself. If you could drive somone else's truck with the GSK. Some of the HP junkies would tell you go for more hp but I'm quite conservative and finances are tight in my camp. Setting your timing to 15-16 degrees helps egts but the more you advance it the higher your cylinder pressure.

Here's my 2cents

When you all talk about plate #s who's are you refering to? There are a lot of companies offering plates with a certian # on them... .
