I decided with the new injectors that I would also give it a little help with the pump buy twisting the screw. I got the plastic cover off, removed the entire screw, removed the collar, reinstalled the screw where I thought it should be and went for a ride. It was way too far in. #ad
The sky turned black and the pyro raced the tach. But it was a fun ride at over 30 psi. So I turned the screw back in to where the stock idle was as Big Don suggested. I was out about 4 turns. It is now about 1. 5 to 1. 75 turns. The idle is about 150 higher than normal and the max EGT's on full acceleration are about 900-950 degrees pre-turbo. It will also pull until about 2600 RPM. My main concern is the no load speed. The book says, and my truck was, about 2900 RPM. At 4 turns it would go past 3500 RPM at about 2" of throttle and now goes to about 3300 RPM at the floor. Is there a way to bring this down to 2900 RPM again? I think I can turn the screw a little more but don't want the extra RPM's. The other question is how to get the idle down. I can't seem to get the wrench on the nut.

Matt I ended up tapping the edge of the idle lock nut with a small flat chisel to brake it free. Once the idle is turned down tap the nut back the other direction to lock it back down.
Can't answer the rpm question.

Good way to set low idle #ad

Now on the other side of the low idle screw, the easy side to get too, is the high idle screw. Turn it clockwise for less rpm, cc for more. there is a tin cover that needs to be knocked off & under it is two jam nuts. 10mm wrench

Thanks GeneH and Piers for the info. Looks like I can adjust to where I want it. I will probably wait until summer to see if I can handle more fuel. I don't want a melt down.

Glad to see you're having fun with the new injectors Matt. Good line about the pyro racing the tach, just be sure the tach always wins. Hope you get the rpm's under control. Sounds like you're having fun and that's what it's all about. Now tell us about that new found "Getrag growl" you got free of charge with the injectors.

later
Don
