I had the fuel filter changed on my ISB 24 valve on July 31, 2001. Eversince then, when the truck sets a while (but not every time) it will turn over several times before it fires and cranks. It has never failed to crank. Any ideas on the cause / solution? Has anyone else experienced this?

sounds like you didn't get all of the air out of your fuel filter first before you started the engine. it takes time for it to work it's self out these diesel's are hard to prime if you if it get's air bound. to surcome this try looseing up one of the bango bolts

on the out side of the filter and turn the key on and off (don't

start the engine) it's nice to have someone there to help so you can keep the mess to a minimum.

I see that you say I had the filter changed. So you don't know if every thing is put back as it should be and that it was done right. find time to do it your self easy on a 99 I have a 3500 99 and its a ten min job. The filter comes with instructions on package . Check filter can and filter drain valve . Air will after time work out of system on its own if given time . Hope this helps , Ron in Louisville KY:rolleyes: :D
