I've been getting early shifts with my 47RH with light and heavy throttle, so I tried to adjust the TV cable. With it pulled towards the firewall all they way and with the bracket at the trans tweaked too, I still have a fat 1/4" left in the lever at the trans. Is that 1/4" from full travel a concern? My DTT directions said start at 1/16". I guess my cable has stretched in 30,000 miles since the install, 92,000 on the cable. If it drives okay is that acceptable or should I be replacing the TV cable? Its pouring down rain now and dark, I'll wait and test drive it tomorrow. Hopefully the tightening will help with the early shifts. Seams like there should be more adjustment in that set up. Felt like I got a 1/2" slack out and it won't shorten up enough for full TV lever travel at WOT.

Per dtt's way you adjust it at wot. That is when you should have your 1/16 clearance. You should have a helper hold the pedal on the floor. Be sure you remove any floor mats first

Yeah, I know. But, the DTT method ain't happening with my cable. I guess I'll have to purchase a new one. The cable must be worn out, lately the shift to 2nd has been almost instant and soft. I'm hitting 3rd by 15 mph.

Yep, the Throttle Valve cable fixed my early shifting issues, the original cable was at least 2" longer than the new one and it was dragging inside the housing a good bit. Holding gears in drive much longer now, no more slow 10 mph early gear changes. Shifts down quicker too. Helps to have a properly adjusted TV cable.
