Take a close look at the drivetrain under the Nissan. Then look at the drivetrain of a 1500 RAM. The rear axle under the Titan is wimpy! Is that a 7. 5" ring gear under there?
Also the frame, springs, etc. The RAM will always be a workhorse compared to the Nissan, which is more of a weekend short range hauler that probably got it's 9,000 Lb tow rating because of braking or parking brake holding capacity, not brute strenth!
(Seriously, yes the parking brake rating has a lot to do with how much a vehicle can tow GCVWR. )
For the heck of it I stopped in and looked at one of the new Nissan trucks. Very cushy inside with lots of extra features that will help sell them. The salesman was bragging about how the automatic transmission dipstick is clamped off, as if "off limits" to the consumer. Supposed to have some special fluid in the transmission that never needs changing or something.
Personally I can't wait to line up next to one at a light, especially if it's a young driver. Love to see their expression when they get smoked by a 1,500 Lb or-so heavier diesel pickup!
I have always liked Nissan products in general and the new Titan looks pretty cool but it's not that structurally impressive to me.
Now if they offer the US consumers a diesel engine option in them I'll go back for a test drive but still that won't get me to trade in my Cummins Ram on one.
