TV glare

Wife and I just purchased a new Widescreen HD television. Love the picture but... . there is a plastic screen cover that acts very much like a mirror. Owners manual says not to remove.



It is a Mitsubishi 55 inch. Anyone else dealt with this? Any coatings to the plastic lens to reduce glare?

I just removed mine been that way for 2yrs with no problems
