I've got an 03 SRW 3500 and I'm towing a 15k 5er, I've read (I think) all the threads and consider myself pretty well informed.

I'm considering something I've never read about- spacers, maybe 2" where the helper leaf pads mount to the chassis brackets. The intent is to make the helpers start helping sooner and perhaps eliminate some sag (still within axle rating, about 500 over the 9900 GVWR- Front axle right at 4700)

I'm not concerned about empty ride cause I'm almost always hitched up, would rather not ditch the helpers in favor of bags but will not rule that out.

Any comments?

Rockcrawler,

Had a similar problem with our dually with a Bigfoot camper. I solved my problem by replacing the stock rubber bump stops with some polyurethane bump stops from Energy Suspension . I used part number 9. 9109. Not sure if these would be hard enough to eliminate sag. I just wanted to eliminate the slapping noise that the helpers would make when driving on rough roads.

Rockcrawler, here is something you may want to check out and you won't have to worry about loosing the factory ride. Any spring shop in your area can make these inexpensively. This picture was taken with approx 4,800 lbs in the bed of a 3500.
