I've noticed that all twin turbos are ran in series since the cummins is an I-6. Has anyone thought of or tried making a special exhaust manifold that would allow 3 cylinders to run one turbo and the other 3 another turbo? Just a crazy thought.

Might try a search, I know someone asked this a year or two ago. I don't remember the outcome, but it seems that you wouldn't be able to net the same result with that configuration as you would with the compound set up.

the only thing you would do is lower egt and gain lag and only boost as much as the better performing turbo, unless you had a trick intake manifold to keep the systems apart. then you still wouldnt boost as high but the flow would be there, series twins multiply boost, at 80 psi, one turbo could be making 10psi and the other 30psi.
