Off Roading Should I?????????

Has anyone thought about using a twin stick Atlas in a drag truck? My thinking is you could roll into the water box heat up the fronts and then put the back in and heat them as well. I think this would be the best set-up for guys trying to run 4 slicks like Maddog because you could heat up all the slicks.

I think the torque capacity of the Atlas would be your biggest problem. I'd twin stick a 205, like Deo said, before I did an Atlas. And even then, it won't be as strong as your 241HD...

No, I don't think it is. I don't know if AA even gives them a torque rating, but Atlas's have been broken in lighter, gas-powered vehicles before.

In the offroad world, if you're running a big block and 44's, you don't get an Atlas - you get a 205 (or bigger).

Down here at Disney there are thousands of jeeps, trucks, buggys that roll through here on the weekends and 9 out of 10 (built) rigs that are running anything for hp have an atlas bolted up. I've seen a lot of rigs with 49" Iroks and 44" boggers with no atlas breakage... I'm sold on them. Sure the 205 is great but you gotta double it with a 203 because the gearing sucks...

JB Conversions has a new LoMax 205 kit that is all ready to twin-stick, has even stronger internals and case than a stock 205, and a 3:1 low range that is a hair better than the NP241'a 2. 72:1 low range. I think you can clock is for different installs as well.

Last time I checked they didnt offer a 29 spline input. They might have the 23 spline it would only work on the first gen autos though.

I just checked out the jb conversions web site, they only offer the gm 32 & 10 spline. They also have a comparisson between the atlas gears and the 205 gears I cant see how the atlas could be stronger, it has much thinner gears.
