Picked up Fleetguard BHAF cheap today...

I bought a few weld ells from an INDUSTRIAL plumbing supply store. If you ask for weld ells at a normal, smaller plumbing supply stores... they'll look at you like you have a lobster on your head. Home Depot is useless... . they didn't even have any 3" black iron pipe... .

A bench grinder/wire brush goes a LONG way to grind off the aluminized coating. If you try to TIG weld it without grinding it off - it will fly off and stick to your tungsten.

Thanks guys, got my work cut out for me during the winter... or sooner :-laf

Got another question, in keeping w/ TDR thread tradition, I am going to change the subject

Will getting the ATS manifold chromed hold up to the heat or will it turn blue?

Matt your right there but even if you sand, grind or buff it off like I do it still gets impregnated in the metal and will never be a perfect surface to weld to, if you have seen my piping then you know I tig'd all of mine together.

it pobably would turn blue. i'd get the manifold high temp coated (like they do on snowmobiles).

Good info, Brian!!

Stainless would be sweet..... it TIGs up REAL nice.

Mark: I got some 304 stainless filler rod at home and a 1/4 full tank of Argon..... when do you want to do it up?

Some people have used regular exhaust pipe for the exhaust side of the twins setup. I feel that the only thing regular exhaust pipe should be used on is the secondary (larger turbo) turbine discharge.

I bought some schedule ?? weld ells - they work SWEET and weld up so nicely..... then again - that's what they're made for.

MTY,

This is going to be a winter project for me... Do you have a link w/ a pic of these weld ells that you speak of? :D

I wanted to find light weight steel tubing to weld up, then get it chromed, or custom painted.

Mark:

The manufacturer of the weld ells I bought is "Weldbend".

For the clean air side of things - exhaust tubing is perfect... ... but I wouldn't use it on the exhaust side between the turbos... ... others have tried it with varying degrees of success/failure... .

On edit: Here's the link to Weldbend's website. Click here!
