A friend of mine has an 03 3500 4x4 6 speed dually. He wants to put a set of twins on it and some injectors. It has an Edge EZ. Would it be better to stack the EZ with the new edge box or with the TST? What about injectors? Something BIG. Whats out there? I guess we'll be using an HX-40 on top and an HT3B on bottom. He's looking for some thing around 500 hp. Is there much of a difference doing a twin setup on a 3rd gen virsus a 2nd gen? I've done several on those. Just wandering if there are any surprises. I guess I'll use an ATS manifold for a 2nd gen 24 valve. Got the fuel system covered. I appreciate any help or advise.

Guys (myself included) are making 500HP or more with a stacked TST, EZ, and a single charger. I've heard numbers as high as 540HP with this combination.

Is your friend looking to tow with that much HP, or does he just want twins for the cool factor?

Don't get me wrong - it will work just fine, but that's about $4000 more ($3000 more for the twin turbo kit, and $1000 more for injectors) than he needs to spend for that kind of HP.

500hp is attainable with a single turbo, injectors and his EZ box. Of course it will also need the fuel pusher kit, gauges, clutch/trans upgrades, airbox and exhaust, but 500hp isn't that hard. I would recommend doing it without a timing/puslewidth box due to the reliability.

So what kinda power do you think I should see with the twins and a big set of injectors? He will be towing with the truck. Thats the main reason for the twins. I would rather run a single, but I haven't heard of anything good really. I'd like to know more about that HTB2 turbo from HT Turbo. Do you guys think it would do the job?

Problem is that the CP3 seems to be limited in its ability to deliver more than about 560rwhp. That being the case, yes, you could go the route you are thinking, and spend a bunch of money and get into the mid 500's.

But, you could spend less, get right at 500hp and still be happy. Without drugs, you won't get too much more.

KLockliear,

What would be your recommended suggestion to hit 500rwhp without the TST or other pulsewidth boxes. I am currently running DD3's, Edge EZ, your pusher and fuel line kit, 4inch ex. and a slew of transmission upgrades. 500rwhp is the number I want, so what next??

Have you dynoed your truck? What did it dyno stock? Looking at your sig, looks like you have the TST as well as our 3's, but not the EZ box. What turbo are you running?

Why would injectors be needed if you can drain the rails with a TST box?

Now if you didn't want to buy another box you could do the injectors like Keith said!

the only dyno numbers I have are from an accelerometer. That was at 412hp. I know that isn't a very accurate method, but that's all I've had done thus far. Currently I am running... babying the stock turbo. I am lost trying to decide which Turbo route I want to go. I pull a 14k boat quite often and need to maintain the ability to do that so there is one of my concerns. I ran the TST box for a week but due to all the codes, engine knocks and so on I sent it back. This was one of the very first boxes so I haven't tried one since.

So I guess I will try the two edge boxes and an HTB2 turbo and see where were at. I'll post back when we get it dynoed and let you guys see how it went. Thanks

I guess I should have asked this to begin with, but has the new edge box been released?

The Juice has not yet been released. I read in some other threads, however, where TST has updated the software in their box so it's not as agressive as the earlier boxes.

Don't know how accurate those are, but you'd be down at least 50hp with your setup, just because of the small, restrictive turbo. Even if the HP figure you have is right, that would put you in the 470hp range. Depending on what your truck made stock, that could be about right.

What would you recommend for a good turbo for my application?

Like I said, it has to be something I can tow with.

Thanks for all the help

With our version of the EZ, you can turn the power from the box off, and just deal with EGT from the injectors. The MB103 kit with the Jammer turbo will support Stage 2's with no worries with the box turned off... the Stage 3's you will have to watch the gauge still, but not too bad.

If you want to tow and actually be able to use 500 hp then you need twins. With a single you can make a pretty curve during a 3 second dyno run, but it's not all usable when you're towing 10K pounds up the side of a mountain. This past weekend I towed 9K up some fairly good sized hills during the mid day heat on EZ lvl 4 and TST lvl 3-3 and I never saw above 1300 degrees. I tried almost every scenario I could think of including going through the gears from a stoplight WOT to rolling into WOT from a 60mph roll in 6th gear on a grade and accelerating at WOT up to 90+ mph... no temp problems at all. I raced another dodge w/ a voulmizer, intake & exhaust towing an equal trailer and a Powerjoke with an Edge Juice towing an equal trailer... . they both got smoked (literally... after they lost I pulled ahead, turned the TST to 9-9, and turned the lights out :) ). Also, with this setup I only get minor wisps/puffs of smoke during initial throttle advancement. Are twins more expensive and harder to install? Absolutely! But as the old saying goes... you get what you pay for.
