So I've been dreaming up my Christmas list again :-laf ... and twins are moving to the top. One issue I've been pondering is fuel. I've got a nice healthy VE and my question is what are some of the 'typical' requirements for a pump when stepping up the air? Is it a simple matter of 'more', because I can dial in more fuel but I've already got a bit more smoke than I'd like now. I think the PODs pump plenty but maybe a set of DDPs?

As it is now I''ll hit 40 psi on the gate, and with the twins that should go up to ~ 65. So lots more air and lots less egts - bonus. How does fuel play in?

Can you share? I have plenty of fuel, but not enough turbo above 3k, and am thinking of twins also.

Thanks ;)

Pete, do you plan on adding more fuel? If you like the power where it is now, it would be easier and cheaper to go with a bigger single. I would think a 62/71/14 S300 would be enough turbo for your truck.

Unless you just want twins...

Ohhhh, maybe. ;) I'd like to burn what I have 1st. Over 3k the EGT's go up fast, even with the fuel screw out a ways. I think i'm out of the turbo map range. I don't really want to go with a smaller ex. housing, because I tow too.

From what most people have told me, the 60mm comp. wheel upgrade isn't meant for high hp applications. With the bigger turbo, I don't think the 14cm housing would be that bad.

Have you tried to advance the timing a bit more for experimentation?

It would rev easier, drop some boost and run cooler.

That turbo is a bit small for twins anyway.

Try the 62/71/14; you'll like it. Second choice would be a 62/65/14. You will probably pick up 20-30 hp going to an S300.

It tows good for me at this elevation.

well I should have searched first but I got a wild hair and posted anyway - here's the results of the search and there are some real good threads

I'm likely to to the HX-35/HT3B combo. I tow pretty heavy plus we're at 6800 ft elevation, and the twins are a very good way to get LOTS of air in and keep the egt's down. I'll likely do water meth, some head work, and a cam.

It'll be a while yet, but I want to do the feasibility study now so I can scan for the components, pick up a deal here and there on parts.

Right now I think I have plenty of fuel, based on what I've read. My fuel screw is in just shy of runaway, then add the PDR pin and PODs, there's a lot of fuel in there and it should be enough to spool the big turbo. I think I'll upgrade the lift pump and add a pressure gauge while it's apart.

I have a DDP fuel pin its a nice good power mild pin how wouold some POD's do in that truck. I don't want alot alot of smoke but i don't mind smoke that much, just need power

From all of the research I had done, the HX 35/ HT3B combo proved best for a lower power twin system (as in not wanting to make 900 bagillion HP :D). That is what I ended up going with as well for the crew cab.

for the $ the PODs are great. They haze a lot but with the right combo they don't smoke a ton with the turbo spooled up. I'm doing stacks and that'll get the haze up and out of our way.

Biggest thing is I need AIR - it's so thin up here, and the twins will cure what few egt issues I have. The water-meth will be just to have a little sumthin' extra ;)

POD's are a really smokey injector. They say they are about a 52rwhp increase on a stock truck. They are jst about the cheapest injector out there, but I think you would be better off going with some DDP's or New Era 370's.

I'm very likely going with a set of DDP 3's or 4's - whatever will best support the twins - probably 4's, and I'll sell the PODs.

glhs,

thanks it was good to meet you also how is the getrag holdin up i finally got mine to run right oh ya by the way our trucks made it in 8 lug diesel truck that's awsome your truck is sick fast man stay in touch.
