thinking of going to auto

I am wondering if going to a twin turbo set up is really that much better than going with a single. what are the benefits of twins? any negatives? Also, is there any company that makes a "kit"? I have noticed a lot of people that fabricate them. Are there any kits for the 2003's? Sorry for all the ???'s, but this really has sparked my interest.
 
www.enterpriseengine.com is perhaps the most prominent builder/dealer of twin turbo kits, they certainly have the most research and development invested in multi-turbo systems, with over 40 different combinations that can be matched to your truck's intended use. Twin kits are not exactly a "one-size-fits-all' deal .

We do have 5 combinations of our own, with one set installed on one of our trucks, and more on the way.

Yes, it's much better than a single charger, but naturally there's much more work involved, keeping the head on the engine at such high boost/fuel means going to extremes such as o-ringing the head and/or block to keep it together.

The end results are much fun :D and well worth it.
 
EE has done twins for a ling time. JR Adkins also has them, and a little cheeper price though. I think he might be my man for the job soon. :)

Talked to clint from ats in denver,he has a new twins set coming in 2-3 months. sounds like a sweet set up for my 03 ho.
 
what is involved in o-ringing the head/block? what does that usually cost? would twins seriously ruin the reliability? This truck will be my daily driver and I want a reliable but powerful truck... reason to by a diesel. :cool:

Doing the head work will cost you about 1k (o-ring, gasket, and studs). The head is removed and usually either it or the block has grooves cut for steel rings. Sometimes both are done and sometimes both are done with reciever grooves on the opposite surface. The o-rings are to try and control compression loss under high boost situations.



To get to the power where you NEED twins IMO you will lose reliability and longevity. A small set of twins may not push the envelope but they also limit the hp you can use. It has been said on here many times that going beyond 350hp or so will shorten the life expectantcy of your motor. Dont get me wrong I LOVE my twins but for a everyday driver I would stay away from something that produced much more than 45psi and stick with the stock headgasket. So to answer your question, twins wont make it less reliable unless you run high boost pressures and the extra fueling to get high boost pressures.



Of course this is just my opinion and others may vary
