Adjustable Cluch Cylinder - Not So Adjustable

so far so good!!!

With just the EZ and M4 injectors, I hit 38ish psi WOT with EGT less than 900F

for comaprison, the HX40 would make 32 psi and 1300F at the same fueling level.

Freeway cruising at 70 mph boost is 8 psi.

hmmm kinda afraid to hit the button!!!

hmm not sure if I want to let that out yet. I want to make sure they hold together first.

but I will say one thing... there turbos make some serious power in the Import World!!!

and are not big laggy diesel specific turbos

Ahh you finally finished up the super secret twins. Good luck w/ them. Let us know how they work out.

Oh and my guess is Turbonetics. Talked to one of their reps down in DuQuoin.

Oh yeah go ahead and hit the "button".

I hit the button tonight!!!

Boost control "The proper way" really does work!!!!

made 42 psi with the button!!!

a 50mm gate vented to atmo makes some horrible noise!!!

gonna creep up on 55 psi or so!!!

As for parts, there are parts from ADP, ATP, Precision Turbo, HKS, TiAL, Forced Induction, Extreme Turbo Systems, and of course the Freaky Performance Skunk Works shop!!

Drove it back to back against a HX40/B2 twinset tonight... they are comparable in fueling, but the power delivery of my truck was much more linear and controlable.

Cliff, what size Tial gates/s did you go with? How do you have them setup to actuate? This is will more than likely be my next move... ... . once I get caught up with the current projects.

Top gate is actually a 38mm "TiAL knockoff" with the 1. 6 bar TiAL spring set... set in a pressure differential (refferences primary boost pressure).

Bottom is a 50mm HKS "knockoff" with a 1. 0 bar HKS spring... with a boost controller.

got greedy today... cranked up the boost on the primary... peaked at 26 psi... total boost was 51 at the manifold... . not very prressure compounded, but she was rocking and rolling. Blew the cold pipe off the top turbo with a big bang!!!

I think I will back off the bottom turbo a bit to 22-23 psi, and call it a day.

26 psi was really a boneheaded move!!!

I knew it was out of range for the design... . if it was really making 26 psi on the primary should be in the range of 98 psi off the secondary if the top gate was sprung for that pressure... thank goodenss it is not!!!

brought primary boost back to 18 psi!!!

now I need some stiffer springs or at least to make some shims!!!

No electronics!!!

Decided to keep it simple... . just running a ball and spring boost controller on the bottom gate, and a regulator I purchaced at Napa for the top gate.

these turbos make some serious power in the Import World!!!

Lemme guess, a 45 trim T3 top and a 60 trip T3 bottom... . :-laf :-laf

C'mon, all the 2300hp V-Tec's run T3's... ... .

Nice work Cliff. Did you do the piping too, or did you have someone else fab it up for ya?

The only two things I farmed out were the TIG weld on the cold pipe, and the machining of the top wastgate spacer.

Picked up a support bracket from Source Automotive, as well as the discharge pipe to the intercooler.

The Hot pipe was all me, and so was the porting and matching of the wastgate spacer.

Lots of time with the die grinder!!!

I was able to crank out 505 HP and 1044 Tq with just 40 psi of manifold presure (clutch can not hold any more than that).

This is on a Mustang MD-1750SE set at 10,000 LB

A few days later, I finally got a drive pressure gauge on it.

With the gates set to make 40 psi at the intake, drive pressure is exactly 1:1 to 40 psi.

This is with the primary making 17 psi, and the secondary making up the rest.

Once I get a clutch in it, boost is going to 52 psi..... torque should go up considerably!!

Chris, it was good talking to you today!!

We really need to get that beer.

I hooked up the drive pressure gauge again today and did some more tweaking.

Primary pressure is now at 20 psi, and manifold pressure is now 50. This is on the top end since I can not get the clutch to hook up on the bottom end.

On the bottom end, boost pressure is slightly higher than drive pressure. As you gain RPM, drive pressure evens out with boost pressure and by 3000 RPM and 50 psi, they are very close to 1:1. It's hard to watch that many gauges + the road... . but things are looking really good!!
