I am looking for suggestions, should i buy a large single and try it or should i go ahead and get the twins if so what is everyone having the best luck out of. Or maybe get a single that is upgradeable to make a set of twins out of it later  just starting to build power but plan on building if pretty fast 600 to 700 range. :D

I have the Silver Bullet turbo from Industrial Injection, and they say that it will flow enough air for 800+ hp

hope this helps

Also, with the twins its not the flow that really makes them better but the driveability. If you want to be able to drive around town or tow fairly easily with big big power twins are the only way to go. If its a racing only application, rarely driven, the the Silver Bullet would be my first choice.

I have been running my BD twins for almost a year now and I can't see me going back to a single for street/strip use. They just drive too nice!

Nothing like a good set of twins. Second to that - IMO - would be the Pro Street 66 for some awesome power. Lot's for turbo for the money too.

has anyone tried the relentless diesel artic air twins ? price sounds good but don't hear of anyone using them.

The artic air's are old school imo. Tried and true though.

I have the silverbullet, couldn't be happier. Sure the boost comes on a little later then twins, but when it comes on... that needle sure jumps.

Old school? They were making huge power long ago when everyone said they wouldnt work! The problem I see is that twins are getting a bad rap because people are overengineering them its funny how all the "small tight twins" are making alot more power than people would ever expect and the big high flowing twins arent making any more power and people are having problems with them!

If your stock charger is in good shape the AA twins are a good choice they have been making huge power (800+) for a long time with many other trucks making big power as well, also the BD twins have impressed myself along with many others check with diesel nut on the BD twins.

All I meant by old school is that the Artic Airs are using the tiny HY9 and correct me if I am wrong... but isn't the 3B a bit outdated.

I'm not knocking RD setup. I think the Artic Air's are great... simply pointing out that they are setup with a different train of thought then other twin set-ups.

The 3B may be outdated but its still used in many twin setups (Piers, olee poole and obviously the RD twins) that make just as much HP as some of the high dollar newer designed turbos. Thats why I said I think overengineering is what has happend to the twin market and just because you flow more air doesnt mean more HP.

I will have to say hands down Olee Poole builds the best looking and strongest performing twins on the market. The welds are absolutely impecable and the fit is more than awesome.

Gus, are you running a B2/DZ or 3B/DZ?

mattymac-

I was never disputing with you the fact that the RD twins are a great set-up. AS I said in my first post, they are tried and true. AS you have pointed out, there are newly engineered turbos... making them the "new school" and there are turbos that are tried and true (3B) which would be considered the "old school. " Different trucks will get different benifits out of the different set-ups. So I dunno, you tell me, is one really better then the other?

I would just prefer to keep my single. But Poole does build some sweet lookin kits.

And I agree with you, over engineering is something that is very common these days.

I sold those to a fellow TDR member and am currently in the process of working out what I am going to run next. It was a Dodgezilla/B2 setup.

Nice Twin setup, not to big, not to small and I like Olie's touch on a nice but small external gate added for the extra driving force for the big charger.

Looking back in time at my first Twin setup stock 35/PDR 3B and my power level at that time I'd say the my combo now will do the same power with the same EGT's, if not it's real close on EGT's. I haven't go to try pouring the coals to it with my big injectors to see how much power it will make but it may very well take a Silver Bullet.

Does anybody sell a bolt-in "external gate" kit with no welding required? I have the BD twins and have been contemplating putting in an external gate. The twins are great and super fast spooling, but are 1:1 drive:boost until about 55 psi with a wastegate spacer plate I installed on the Super B to allow the flappers to open more.

Now you have the spacer in check to see if your wastegate actuator has the travel. Hit it with shop air to see if hitting the wastegate plate? I use to make a spacer for a 38mm gate i will see if i have here.
