I was pretty disappointed. They really skipped a lot on the e-brake install - especially the vacuum pump and belt . The part showing the engine could have been more detailed - they made it too simple. They did have good things to say about the engine - maybe Sam will have thoughts of dumping his Isusu for a real rig.
Does anybody think the Cummins really weighs 1400 lbs like was stated?
They did mention the lift pump but maybe not by that name. I am positive they showed the pump on the back of the fuel filter canister but can't remember exactly what they called it.
As far as the weight goes, I don't think those guys were even close. If I recall correctly it weighs just under 1000 pounds.
Overall I was disappointed by the lack of REAL information and the exaust brake installation was a bit of a joke. Guess I will find out shortly what the install is really like. Oh well, nice to see a Dodge on the show anyway.
Well they did show the vac pump, only until recently did I find out you need one on '03. Pretty tough to show step by step when you really only have about 10-15 minutes to cover things.
Well, Casey, they did not specify the whole drive-train or not (and I agree with everybody's comments, even my wife who did watch the whole show:--) thought they skipped alot) , but if you add the 350-pound 6-speed to the almost 1000-pound engine and the clutch, I bet it is pushing 1400 lbs!
Sam and Dave didn't skip much. It only took them and some other guy 4-5 min to install an e-brake. That's about right cuz it only took me 15 min working alone :-laf
But seriously folks that was pretty bad. They spent more time talking about removing and reinstalling fender liners than any other part of the operation. Seems like the rest of the show was a big sales pitch for DC and Cummins. Lots of fluff, not much substance. Come on Sam and Dave what's happened to you guys?
Seeing how Dodge and Cummins especially get left out of most of the mechanics shows on TV, I was actually quite enthused about seeing one of our trucks on there. I liked seeing the sales pitch. Maybe some people considering competitors's trucks will see the value of the new truck/engine. Increased coverage of our trucks will only help sales.
