Hello All I'm a big fan of TDR and this is my first post. My truck began skipping at start up about three weeks ago. Checked the oil and was overfull. Dealer had it two days and diagnosed two bad injectors:{:{My truck is bone stock except for muffler and intake hose and I use Diesel Power Service at every fill up and change fuel filter every other oil change. I never had this problem with my 2003 and only had vp44 problem with the 1998. Is this common for the HPCR and should I be worried about the other four sticks? Thanks for your replies. Dealer has been great so far, and did tell me someone had been scamming my VIN for warranty in Ohio.

1. what truck do you have now?

2. Some injectors will fail with bad filtration. The bone stock fuel filter will filter down to 10 micron, you can buy a filter that fits there from genos garage that goes down to 7 micron. But injectors have been known to fail as low as 2 micron contamination.

3. How was some one able to scam your VIN and use it for warrenty work?

sticking injectors sadly is the most common engine problem these hpcr engines can have. . the design of the injector leaves it susceptible to hanging up if crud gets inside [need good filtration]. . there is no safety device to cut off fuel to a stuck injector [they exist, but the isb hpcr was not designed with them integrated]

Thanks for the replies. I have now filled out my signature. The 2006 is my current truck and I am using the Baldwin filter #7977. I think that is the number off the top of my head. The service man at the dealer asked if I had ever had any warranty work done out of Georgia and I said no this is only my second trip back to the dealer. Long story short is that some dealer picked my VIN through some access that all dealers have and did three bogus warranty jobs on it when it had 1600 miles on it. He showed me the screen and it was there in black and white. He said it was the second time he had seen something like this. Maybe I should be looking into better filtration, what are the options?

Glacier Diesel Power is a favorite. I have their 2 micron filter that mounts under the intake horn and like it. It does make getting to the stock filter location a little harder but not much. They also have other filter and pump combos.

Yeah that is what I read and that is why I am using it. I can't say for sure that trash/gunk is the culprit though it probably is.
