New Owner Questions/Advice

First time post-long time reader! Ordered white 3500, 4x4, Quad cab, Laramie with sutton taupe leather, Cummins 325 600 48RE, 410 limited slip, & tow package. Thanks to all of you wonderful people, I feel like I know what to do with my truck! Supposed to arrive at dealer in San Diego on May 20. They will install exhaust tip, brushed aluminum fuel door, brushed aluminum steps, etc. . Then off to my mechanic for a set of Autometer guages on the door post (Tubo boost, EGT, Trans temp). Just e-mailed T-Rex to line up getting their suspension package. Anyone out there know how excited I am? I am sooo looking forward to being able to join into your forum discusions with my own first hand experiences! By the way, this is my first Ram experience. This truck will replace my '96 F-350 crew cab 4X4

w/7. 3 powerstroke. You know, when you do a little research,

Ford and Chevy don't stand a chance!

Thought you might like to know Mr. Ed... . I have on the railway north exactly the same truck... same color and options except I ordered the 3:73 rear end with six speed. Should arrive at my dealer on or around May 24th. Will be my second Ram Cummins... last one was a 98. 5 24 valve, since then had 3 years with a Dually Duramax which I am not missing. Just went over the Mopar options list, and am having my dealer do the Jake brake, nerf bars (long version) and some other stuff including the BD X monitor. Good fortune with your new ride!!

Thanks to Grey Wolf and CBrittan for your replies. It is a wonderful thing to be "49 going on 16"! I am so anxious to get my truck broke in enough to hook up to my Toy Box (30' Weekend Warrior )and see how she does up the grades. My poor old Ford just wasn't happy pulling that much weight (20500 GCW)-even with a BullyDog chip. We are hoping that the new ride will be prepped and ready for a trip to San Felipe for Memorial day weekend. Thought that would be some quick "no trailer" miles. I will have 105 gallons of good old US of A Diesel fuel in my transfer tank in the bed, so no worries on that lousy Mexico diesel fuel.

To CBrittan- can I assume that your truck is coming out of the Mexico plant also? Time line would sure work to drop mine on the 20th in San Diego and the head North to you. Congrats! We'll stay in touch.

I hope your delivery date is right mine has been on the railcar for 6 days and is still in texas sitting for god knows what. the del date keeps getting pushed back everyday.

Guess patience is gonna be the order of the day. What day did your truck leave Mexico? Are we on the same train? Shoot me a PM.

Mr. Ed:

I ordered mine Feb 28th and took delivery at Cal Worthington in Carlsbad March 21. It was built 3-23 and sat for 10 days waiting to be loaded in Saltillo then sat 5 days in Yuma then 4 days in Mira Loma. Same truck as yours except 2X2 and it's a duallly. Great truck 13. 1 on first tank. Who are you going to have install the gauges? I got a monster tip from Genos. Took 2 min. to install and looks great.

I might be confused!

Mike

It's the end of the day, so I am probably not the sharpest tool in the shed! Was your truck delivered 3-23 or 4-23? My dealer (John Hine in San Diego) said they needed 3 weeks, plus or minus a week, for delivery. It went on the train on April 29.

As far as the gages are concerned, I have a great mechanic in Santee that works on my big truck (1997 Peterbilt 377) that will be doing the gage install. What was the tip from Geno's?

Hope you love your truck!
