First question: I've read a few posts that stated that the OEM ATF+4 is a synthetic base. If this is true why are so many members switching to aftermarket synthetics?

Second question: Did a search on zerk fittings and found that most members with my year truck have three, (two on steering and one on track bar). I only have one and it's on the track bar. Anyone else with a 2001. 5 have only one fitting?

Thanks, Bill

I think the after market synthetic ATF choice is due more to "marketing" presense and TDR testimonials for those products. I also suspect it's partially due to an anti-mopar parts attitude on the TDR.

Having said that, after 55K happy miles on my DTT transmission with Mopar ATF+4, I'm switching to Redline High Temp synethic ATF for the next change. Just got caught up in the hype. It's all part of this bombing sickness I have.

atf +4 has more additives to reduce shuddering than +3 But at the cost of increased slipping. Dexton is really the best at reducing slipping but may sudder.

The other two are on the top ball joint on each knuckle not the steering tie rods.

OK, I found the two grease fittings on top of the steering knuckles. I've got 13,000 miles on the truck without greasing these and they were pretty dry, hope there isn't too much damage. Didn't look like dodge greased them either, all that came out was fresh grease.

Thanks

Is there any way ......

I can add "these" two fittings to my 99? I have looked at this and can not figure out how to drill and tap mine to be greasable.
