1) I have a annoying squeak in my dash and have narrowed it down to the shifter. I can rest my hand on it and the squeak will stop. I have greased the shifter linkage from under the hood to where it hooks up to the trans itself but it is still doing it:mad: Any clues what to look for next?

2) I am considering stacks but I park my truck in a garage with a white ceiling:rolleyes: Does anyone have stacks and still park the truck in their garage? If you do is there any problems with getting a black ceiling from the smoke upon start up? Thats why right now I am "just considering" the option.

Just why exactly do you need stacks?? It cant be for performance. If you did have them in a white garage then the stacks would have to angled back, not up. If you didnt, then black ceilings are in your future. I dont have stacks but I tried to park in my white garage and the side wall got black soot on it very fast.

Why do I want stacks? LOOKS!! and I want to keep the smoke up in the air because I tick people off sometimes ( I know its fun sometimes but not all the time):D

Stacks

I just removed the stack the previous owner had installed on my truck. He had installed a "big rig" muffler (5" in/5" out) with three elboes and a piece of 5" flex to a 5" chrome stack. It looked kind of cool, but because I want to install a canopy, it was impractical to leave it.

When I took it off, I left the muffler, ran a piece of 5" straight pipe out of it, then re-used one of the elboes and finished off using the top 20" of the stack as a "tailpipe" that exits right in front of the rear wheel.

That said, here's what I've noticed: 1) I get more exhaust smell in the cab at lower speeds. 2) It's quieter in the cab at all speeds. 3) My EGTs are lower (by about 50 to 100 degrees) when driving around town. I presume that fewer bends (three 90ºs before/one after), a shorter overall run, and not having to work against gravity have made it a little easier for the engine to push the exhaust out.

Just my observations... .

Member Whitmore has stacks and parks in a white garage and his ceiling is still white. If you don't sit in there reving the engine you should'nt have a problem, unless the they are flat tops. Yes they are alot louder in the cab but I guess that has to do with the fact that my windows stay down most of the timeOo. :D

I know I am not the only person with the dreaded dash squeak! Has anyone had it come from the shifter in the column area? I dont want to take it to the dealer but i will before it drives me nuts.
