i installed the TST #6 over the holiday and am extremely impressed with the results... lots more power, especially in the mid range... one question for those who fully understand the cummins beast... what exactly does that star wheel do or control. . i adjusted mine counterclock wise and it seems to be a tad quiter now... maybe just my imagination... i assume the wheel has something to do with the air/fuel supply????
thanks in advance. #ad

ROCKY... . the tst #6 raised my HP from 160 to 230 and the torque from 400lbs to 605. the gauges are going on this weekend so i cannot give you any boost or egt reading yet...

I have a 94 Dodge 3500 that I've installed a TST #5 plate,gages and removed the cat,also moved the starwheel 15 clicks.
Prior to making these changes when pulling my 12,000 lb. 5th. wheel to southern Alabama I would have to get out of overdrive on most inclines. I just returned from making that same trip and am happy to report that I never had to come out of overdrive on any incline and topped most grades at between 62 and 65mph,along with that I averaged 15. 3 mpg towing and on the return trip home minus the 5th. wheel averaged 22mpg at 70mph on cruise!!! I also say "two thumbs up to TST".
The truck has a little over 88,000 miles on it.

Rocky,

Your truck takes a #12, #11 or #10 TST plate. I have the #11 (280 HP/685 Ft-Lb) and am very pleased with it. My fuel mileage actually went up about 5% after installing the plate. With the #10 plate, bigger injectors would be advised and probably a clutch upgrade as well.

I too have the #6 plate. I have mine slid all the way forward as well as the housing slid all the way forward, supposed to give ya about 20 more hp. We were pulling the 33' travel trailer through some hills that previously we had pulled through unbombed and there's definitly no comparison. Before, I was continually shifting out of O/D on every little grade and having to hold it to the floor. Now I never shift out of overdrive unless some unworthy Chivy gasser is in front of me slowing me down #ad
EGT's most always stay managable and the transmission has yet to protest.

Radixr,
It sounds like you and I have identical trucks. #ad
I pull a 30 foot cattle stock trailer in Colorado along with flatbeds with tractors and the roads are always up hill, both ways #ad
so my worry is EGT's. have you had any problems at all ? What is the specs on the #12 plate? My significant other keeps an extremly close eye on the checkbook so I can't do much playing #ad

ROCKYMNT, I run the 280 hp plate in my '96 truck and only mod I needed was to put a straight pipe in place of the muffler and get some gauges. I pull a 32ft 5th wheel with a Suzuki Samuri behind it and need the gauges to watch EGT's on climbs. I also put in a high flow air filter.
