I need to replace the u-bolts on the rear suspension of my 99 Ram 4x4, as they are badly rusted. NAPA cannot get them in the length I need. The Dodge dealer wants $50 apiece. Does anyone know of a better source?

I could get some 1/2" cold roll and fab them, but would rather buy them if I can do so at a reasonable price.

Thanks!

Bud

I got mine from the a local drivetrain place in town. If I recall they made them up on the spot to the length I wanted and were relatively inexpensive. The place I used locally was drivetrain industries. I think they have multiple locations but am unsure of how many and where they all they are located.

Do you have a local spring shop??? Most of them have stock lengths of threaded u-bolt stock and bend them up as needed using various jigs. Tell them the size of rod, width of the spring, type of bend (Round, Semi-Round or Square) and the leg length.

Voila, instant u-bolts... ... .

Mike.

Another source is jegs.com and search for spring u bolts, 112 items found. I agree with MWILSON, shops that sell springs, especially for trucks make them very quickly, been there done that. In Sacramento, CA Betts springs is the place.

RWD would be too short, correct? I have a set off my '95 RWD. Yours for the shipping if they're long enough.

Mike,
That's probably what I'll have to end up doing. Unfortunately, we don't have much close by - it's about 70 miles to find a spring shop. All we have here is a small NAPA. $50 from the dealer seems excessive and that's still 50 miles one way to get them. I could build some, but I'll bet a spring shop won't be much more than what I would have in them, anyway.

Thanks!
Bud
