I have 6 months free u connect on my new 2500. Can anyone tell me what will stop working If I don't renew the service?

Voice searches for POI or anything else that will try to go out to the internet for info like looking up an address to navigate to! You would think it would use your our smart phone, however I believe it is a Sprint Cellular link.

Thanks Snoking, will voice command still work to set hvac temps in the cab, to make a call on my cell via blue tooth? Also will I be able to still receive calls via steering wheel and talk into the rear view mirror. I assume navigation will still work, just not able to ask for and get directions?

Without knowing which radio you have.....With the 8.4 nav unit, the only thing that quit working on my 2014 was the voice sending an outgoing text and the remote start/horn/door unlock, etc. that you could do on the website and the phone app.

Bluetooth and voice commands will still work for your phone and navigation. It's the apps that use the built in cellular phone that will not work.

Like???????? Finding POI and looking something or someone on the internet?????? What else????? BTW, don't remotely honk the horn unless you want to here it for two minutes without a way to kill it! SNOKING

It will find POI's, dial the phone, etc... Only internet related will stop working, WiFi hotspot, apps that require internet access, etc..

When I said POI I was referring to something that was not in the NAV data base. The question becomes is in worth the 15-20 bucks per month. You know it will do things like "find Harry Jones in Small Town, (state)"!

Interestingly I just learned how to enable text and emails if the alarm is tripped on the RAM. System had my email address from when the sales lady helped set it up, however the theft alert was not activated. This is done in the Uconnect apps in your smart phone. I received a text to reply to(yes) finish the setup. If one is going to extend this service and pay the fee, then they should learn what it will do and set it up correctly. More home work is in order! Cherry is the most complex woman I have ever been with!

The other daywhen I registered my truck the person i talked to said I had one year from that day of Advantage Package. I guess I am supposed to have Wifi hot spot and a couple of other things. Reading the User Guide and the Owners manual is like trying to read War and Peace at one seating.

I am not sure what the Advantage package includes, but with my free 6 month trial of U-Connect access, it did not include Wifi hotspot, it was an additional charge.

The only thing I use from UConnect are the apps in Via Mobile, such as Pandora. Hopefully they will keep working. But, if not, Pandora works pretty well (and starts playing a whole lot sooner) via Bluetooth. I will find out in a few weeks or more when my trial is over.

I am going to let UConnect lapse but I am still on the fence about renewing Sirius. Their 6 month special offer on their "Select" plan comes out to about $6/month (after fees) then triples in cost per month after that. $6/month may not seem like much, but I listen to only three stations. At the normal monthly rate, that will become about $6/station! Or I have to keep renewing every 6 months (and be careful it never auto-renews at the monthly rate).

IIRC (and I could be wrong) but I believe Pandora etc with Via Mobile are still using your phones Pandora & data, it just allows you to control it on your Uconnect screen. Therefore, you should be able to use it without the subscription.

I really need to try this to verify but I keep forgetting, I haven't even bothered since my trial ended.

It does use my phone for data but it still has to have the UConnect App running and logged in on my phone. Can I still log into my account and will it still operate? I also don't know if the 8.4 unit does something over the 3G connection when it is booting up or running the apps. So it is still an unknown for me. I will find out soon enough.
