Part numbers of a greaseable driveshaft u/joints that fit correctly for 03 3500 4x4 NV5600 trans truck. Tried Rock Auto and THEY can't find the right application part number joints.

U-Joints

Found this in my notes, hope it helps.

This info came from these forums so maybe you can sort

it out from here.

These were posted before:

Rear driveshaft 2 Piece precision (takes 3) Precision #351

Front driveshaft Cardan H joint (takes 2) Precision #232

Front driveshaft @ front axle (takes 1) Precision #235

Front Axle U joints LEFT AND RIGHT (takes 2) #464

I have personally purchased the #351 joints at NAPA for my 03, 3500, 6 speed. They require a 'small' amount of grinding the yokes for assembly. These joints have performed well with no vibrations or other problems.

I have also read that the auto trucks need #295 joint in lieu of the #351, but cannot verify this.

Hope this helps,

Carl

Another one !! Why are you guys grinding away on the yokes? Mine fit without any grinding, pressed right in, you guys just trying to beat them in with a hammer or something?

I can verify for certain that the 464 is for the front axles and the 235 is for the front driveshaft at the front axle. Don't know about the transfer case side (which Carl says takes a 232).

All those listed are greaseable.

MMeier you found the 351 fit without grinding? Driveline shop I talked to frowned on this grinding the yokes even a little bit.

Guys the 351's hold up to alot of abuse.

I sledpulled with them for 1. 5 years... thats around 20 hooks with 500hp.

I also had to grind one of the yokes just a hair the first time. Not enough to even come close to hurting the integrity of the yokes.

If you want to nay say thats fine or believe who ever you want but in my real world experience these U joints work great and stood up to a hell load of abuse (grinded caps and all!).

I finally had one fail finally after a hard bounce on a tacky tar track (but it was the same track/pull a guy lost the mainshaft in his 6 speed on).

jwilliams punishes his joints quite a bit. I bought 351s for my rear shaft, so I was suitably convinced by jwilliams and others.

On my truck they did. I was there when they were installed, they have a pretty hefty press they used , but something tells me a lot of you guys here are perhaps trying to put them in with a hammer and socket, like I used to do on some of my hot rods. now, I just take all my driveline stuff to this shop. If its the proper U Joint, it should fit without having to grind away on the yoke, I've never heard of that until the matter was brought up here.
