Archived U joint shot - 03-188 doesn't fit?

At 31,700 miles, the center u-joint failed (not a big surprise). Every listing (here and at the parts stores) calls out neapco 03-188 or equivalent as the proper part. I have the driveshaft down and apart, and can't get the cross into the yoke at any of the three locations!



The 03-188 cross is about an 1/8 inch wider across than the factory cross.



Truck details:



October '02 build 3500 long bed dually, H. O. , 6 speed, two piece drive shaft.



Do I have an odd ball because of the early build, or is there some trick to get the 03-188 cross into the yokes?

Bill, on my 03 we have to chamfer the edge of the yoke bore with a few strokes of a round file in order to get aftermarket joints to slip by. Hope this helps.
