I have ordered the parts from Rockauto and started gathering tools for the front axel u joints. Wish me luck with the bearings. I have the rear drive shaft u joints ordered also. I think I have read every post about them so I feel prepared. I have a driveline shop located to press them in and out. We use salt here so I am worried about the cartridge bearing removal.

Just an update, the truck has been in the shop a solid week waiting on a lower control arm(national backorder). I couldn't get the hub or rotor to budge without damage. Some things are just better left to a well equipted shop. I ruined an extension and impact socket trying the steering method on the hub. I should have pulled the front end apart and applied anti-seize. Front brakes still have material left at 108k so I had no reason to pull rotors. Six winters rusted them on. I think the shop might have been prying on the control arm but they are making it right. The rust belt is rough on things.

I ruined several extensions doing this, but the hubs did come off in pretty short order. From here on out, the hubs will come off pretty quick due to the anti-sieze, but if I had to do it over again or work on a buddy's truck, I am getting the impact-grade Snap-On tool made specifically for the Dodge power-steering hub removal application.

I am going to order the DHP-1 when my Snap-On guy shows on Friday, I wounded a couple of extensions doing mine last time. #@$%!

Will post the actual price and lead time when I see him... .....

Wounded? I flat out murdered several of mine. :-laf

Bringing this back to the top.

I ordered the Snap-On DHP1 tool, just arrived today. For those that want to know, the price is 42. 60 plus tax. I have blown up the instructions so you can see how it works. They show a long pry bar, but I think that you can still do the power steering press out with it. Should really have a pair and maybe later on I will purchase a 2nd one.
