has anyone else had a problem with the plastic plugs that are under the needle bearing cap.the worn out set had these and one gallery would not get grease,two needle bearing sets one in each joint was rusty.also i could not compress the needle bearing caps enough to get the second half moon clip in.the new u-joint had these and none had holes ,i installed without these and success. take a torch to them and melt the plastic, then reinstall the new ones. the c-clips should fit. if they are not installed the u-join will come apart.

If you drove the caps in from each side you probably slightly crushed the yoke and the clips will not go in. You have to support the yoke in a way that it does not get crushed when installing the joints. As mentioned above, no clip = immediate failure.
