Despite all the horror that we saw as a nation in the past week, the Diesel Truckin Nationals carried on as scheduled. I was among the people who knew several persons who would not be coming back from work on Tuesday, and it would have to be that somewhere things would have to start happening again. If we were to be afraid of organizing events like this, we as a nation would be ending up in worse shape than we were during the past week because they would have broken our spirit as Americans. We all came together as vendors and participants and put any disagreements in the past and had friendly competition. Among the attending in alphabetical order: Auto Wurks Diesel (seven or eight trucks running besides the company racer), Blue Chip Diesel (at least two trucks running), & Jannetty Racing (I believe five or so trucks running). These numbers were mostly an estimate by me as this was my first time out as pilot of the racer, so please forgive any inaccuracies. In a victorious, yet somber way, every person who participated was given a "proud to be an American" sticker and win or lose, they were victorious in moral spirit. Many thanks and much gratitude to the above vendors.
