My 2016 3500/Aisin (first auto transmission ever) has been relatively flawless so far, 106257K miles. Besides that quirky electrical stuff that I've been able to cure by DCing the batteries, I've already had to replace the EGR cooler (Did that myself/ No warranty coverage) and now I have the dreaded U010C; thanks for goodness I have Max Care! Only I have to wait until January 2022 before my locals dealer(s) can touch it.

Never thought I'd go backwards, but I'm on the hunt for a 3rd gen w/ a manual transmission now. My gut tells that my next expense is having to replace the DPF filters, and I will not pay for that.

5 Years ago, I couldn't justify spending the money to rebuild the engine/NV5600 on my 04.5 w/ 300K miles so I bought a new pickup instead. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I can't afford to replace my pickups before the warranty runs out. As soon as the turbo/actuator is replaced in January, this 4th gen is going to be someone else's headache to deal with.

Asap - because that stuff is under MaxCare too.
We discussed that topic several times here in the forum in the last couple years.
Some dealer try to push bills on the cistomer because they don't make money with MaxCare.

You need to talk to a different dealer!!!!!!!

I have 4 within an hours drive from here. The EGR cooler is done, down the road, and over. I'm over it.

I'm patiently waiting for a spot to open so that I can get the turbo/actuator fixed under ext warranty and this truck is going bye bye. As much as I love the cool and modern trinkets on this pickup, I not going to spend $1000's to keep it running.

I should have ponied up the money to rebuild the engine and 6 spd on my 04.5 instead; just shy of 300k miles and was eating oil. Water pump @ 90k miles, clutch @ 140k miles, , one set of injectors @ 240k miles....ball joints every 60k miles LOL, 2 sets of brake pads and was still running original rotors. I miss that pickup. Dumbass guy that bought from me gave it to his son and turned it into a Bro Dozer

YEA like the quote my Son got for the Diesel in the DEF fiasco!!! Notice every price is "LIST"

Second pic is irrelevant and I can't get it to delete.

They charge their retail labor rate, and 40% markup on parts in all states other than CA where they charge their retail parts rate. Might not be enough to get rich, but should be enough to put plenty of food on the table. Retail labor rate at one bay area dealer is $252 per hour.

Doesn't RAM say how much time is allowed for a certain job to be done and that given time is reimbursed under MaxCare?
Whereas against a customer the actual time is billed?

At least at home it is that way, so every dealer hates to do warranty works because the allowed time to do a job is really short.

They do charge the factory time times their labor rate. They can always charge a retail customer more, but many customers pass on work quoted because the prices are so high. They never seem to figure out what they miss out on by not being competitive.

My service guy guaranteed me competitive labor rates and wholesale parts on any future repairs afterMaxCare is gone due to my transmission fiasco. He also is selling me an extended warranty at his cost for my 19 Grand Cherokee.
