I've given up using my installed nav when towing. I can not find a option to stay on main roads, and that is important to me since I pull a 44' 5ver toy hauler that is about 14' high and maxes out at 20K #. The nav keeps wanting to take me down every dog path and alley for the shortest distance. I did find the option to stay on paved roads (really is an option). I'm just about to ease into retirement and am traveling more and more.
Can you advise if there is an option? I have tried all the menus, manuals and the DVD that came with the truck. I'm using the Garmin that came with the TH mainly since it has the back-up camera.
Thanks!

There is an option to select the "fastest" route versus the "shortest" route. I find that using that option will usually keep you in an interstate or main route as you put it with a higher speed limit.

It's not perfect but it mostly keeps me honest. I tow a 17.5k 42' toy hauler and I find the built in unit will suffice for our needs with a little bit of pre trip mission planning.

The best option I've ever found is to use a truckers GPS it keeps you on truck route's mine is 10 years old and still works great I pull a 44 ft enclosed trailer and like you I've been down cow paths doesn't make for fun driving
