I would guess it would probobly be electrical in nature - maybe some type of soleniod? The OD units on our late model trucks are very well built. I got over 300,000 on mine. Sounds like a good time to call Bill @DTT.
Does your cruise control still work?, if it does not, and you have an ftermarket alarm unplug the alarm. I just went through most of the summer without o/d, and it turned out to be the alarm.
Going out on a limb here I used to have 93 Toyota truck with 33" tires and an slushbox (i. e. auto) after a 30 minute romp in one of my fields spining donuts and such I went back to the house with no problems. The next day I had no OD all the way to town (15-17mi). Had to drive all day with no OD, would NOT! go into OD. The next day I had my mechanic change my transmission fluid and filter and all was well. Oo.
Couple of things to check. First fluid level, then are codes present, is OD being commanded, and with pressure gauge on OD port is pressure being fed to OD clutch? This will help narrow down problem. Hope this helps.
I had to run out around 5 this morning and I had OD. It took a few minutes but it is also very cold here right now.
The oil has been in there for about 10K.
I did have it going down the highway at about 110 yesterday also, those PSD are really annoying I got off the highway and I was home in a few minutes. I left about 3 hours later and that's when I had no OD, to and from the bowling alley. It is about a 15 minute ride each way. Shifts were firm, and I had 3rd lock-up.
