We are now coming up on the 2nd fuel-type tiers below what these pumps were designed for. After reading the latest magazine about teh USLD, and the effect it can have on certain types of seals, I had decided it might not be a bad idea to get the pump gone through later this summer, but if they are just going to use the same type seals as original, wouldnt it just be a waste of money? Or are there companies selling updated seal kits that can go into the VEs and VP44s without adverse reaction to required fuel from the Egotistical Pinhead Admin?

You have the MAGAZINE?? When was the last magazine sent out? I e-mailed the TDR and was told mine had been sent out... ... ... ... ..... long agao. :{

Is there something I missed about ULSD? I recenmtly attended a seminar and the speaker said if it runs on the fuel now it will run just the same as ULSD. There will be an additive installed to re-establish lubricity per ASTM specs established for ULSD fuel.

The speaker cautioned the use of Bio-fuel as it "may" harm the o-ring/seals in older pumps as the bio fuel a solvent and a strong one at 20% +

I don't think it was in the TDR magazine, but maybe I missed it. I was reading about it in Landline magazine. But then, you would already know that, as we were talking last night to make plans for the First Annual West (by God) Virginny Biscuits, Gravy & Diesel Roundup!

Yes, Scott, even *I* got the magazine, and I think I am toward the end of the list, as I read about people saying this and that about it, then get it a week or two later.

The write-up was toward the front, before the 1st Gen stuff, even. It said the nitrile (sp?) ruber seals were susceptible, due to the variences in aromatic contents of the new vs old fuel (new has fewer aromatics, no it probably wont smell any better). The old fuel aromatics would swell the rubber, then when new fuel was introduced, the lack of aromatics (or fewer, anyway) would shrink the rubber, break the seal, and cause a leak.

My apologies for not including that in the first narrative, but my girlfriend was chomping at the bit to leave, so I compromised the integrity of my piece. I will take a voluntary 5 RWHP penalty.
