During this past week I learned about a college savings plan called Upromise. This is program which is FREE and you can save college money for your children, grandchildren, or neighbor if you wish. If nothing else you have to at least go to the website. www.upromise.com and look. Many of you might already know about it but for those who don't take 10 minutes to see how it works.

One of the companies offering Upromise money is Warranty Gold. In my opinion this is another no brainer. I just bought a 6 year (from today, not not when my truck was new) 100,000 mile (total OD reading) bumper/bumper plan for under $1900. The only things NOT covered are normal wear items( brake pads, light bulbs, shocks paint etc. ) Everything else is covered. This price includes a $0 deductable, even the $100 deductable for the Cummins Engine they will pay, towing, roadside assit. , all electric items, everthing!! The plan is from www.warrantygold.com If your interested contact Linda at 1-800-580-9889 ext. 4746 or lfreiheit@warrantygold.com Tell her Bill Kollmer sent you from the TDR. She is working on getting a group discount.

Bill,

I hate to tell you this but I just did the same thing. Today I purchased a 7 year (from today)/100,000 mile warranty for my truck and it was only $1500. I got the top of the line diamond plan from Warranty Gold with $0 deductable. I wonder why yours was $400 more?

The price of the warranty is based on your trucks mieage. Mine is over 35000 so my factory warranty is almost up. This was a far more extensive warranty than Chrysler's, it was almost $400 cheaper plus there is no deduct. Also they will pay to fix something before it actually fails. Don't think DC will do that!

And I think if you have 400000 miles on your truck you've gotten your $$$ worth out of her..... YA THINK?

Another nice thing about 3rd party warranties, is that they won't void the extended warranty if the truck is modified.

Has anyone had a claim?

Has anyone taken their truck (or car) in using this outfit with a claim? How did it go? Their rates are good. I'm seriously considering it on our car even without a group purchase (gotta do it soon, car is going out of warranty).

I got Warranty Gold for my wife's 2001 Intreped. 0 deductable 6 yr 100,00 miles for $1000. 00. What you do is take the vehicle to any service center of your choice, they call Warrenty Gold to get autorization for the repair and Warranty Gold pays with thier Visa. My Dodge dealer said they have no problem dealing with them. I like the fact you can use any repair facility. As far as cost, the price started at $1600. 00. After dealing (and they will deal) I got them to 1000. 00, 0 deductable, I give them 100. 00 down and pay them 100. 00 a month.
