Help! My auto trans keeps shifting rapidly in and out of overdrive from 45 to 50 mph with light/moderate exceleration. It also does it from 30 to 40 mph with the OD off. The TC also seems to shudder and grab hard when it locks in. I have 50,000 miles of average/light use and occasional towing. Trans fluid looks okay, and level is good. No leaks.

Thanks in advance.

~Jim.

a friend had same stuff happenon his 98. 5 47re. in his case pcm was bad. a quick re-flash did the trick

Trottle Position sensor

thry following the reset procedure for the throttle position sensor. I be guessing but there was anoth post about solving our problem.

Re-flash it, huh? I'm out of the factory warranty (I have Warranty Gold, same difference) Could this be a re-call item? If not, how much should I expect to pay?

Thanks again,

~Jim.

I had the re-flash done and it cured mine for the week before I got DTT'd. No probs. since. I have the #'s around here somewhere... ... ...

Does anyone else have any more ideas? Today it was 16F this morning, and 27F this afternoon, and it didn't seem to do it.

Thanks, Jim

Call Bill K at DTT

I had a very similar problem. Was told to call Bill and I did. Great guy. Since you are not having the problem at cold temperatures I would guess that it is the kick down cable. It needs a very slight adjustment. I took Bill's advice and took it to my uncle who is a transmission tech. I really didn't want to adjust the cable myself since I had an expert that would do it for me. My uncle said no way it was the kick down cable but adjusted it for me anyway and I have not had any trouble in over 10,000 miles.

Call Bill!!!, describe your problem and he'll help you. He will not answer your question on the first call. He'll give you a couple to do items and then you call him back.

I had similar problems after the body shop forgot to connect drivers side battery ground cable. The truck would downshift out of OD at anyspeed . Also showed a LP circuit failure code. Check all grounds and drivers side battery condition . ECM and Lift Pump take ground from this battery.
