Dad picked up his 2002 2500 4x4, popped the hood, no liner underneath. First thing I noted, dealer says diesles don't need the heat insulation - ALL of his recent diesels do NOT have it?? I have a 2000 WITH it. Dealer called "numerous" other dealers, they all say no liners... Are they BS'ing?? or what? Thanks guys.

It is true, no hood liner on 2002. I traded my 99 in on the 2002 and removed the liner and installed it on the new truck. None of the cars at the dealer have them nor does my Honda passport. Cost saving measure by the auto makers?

My 2002 Dually gasburner doesn't have underhood insulation either. On the new 2003 Heavy Duty Rams, the steering wheel itself will be an xtra cost option. (In 2004 we'll have to pay extra for a brake peddle. )

Thanx guys! Pretty cheap of DC. . Just looks wrong without it. . Seems like might have a paint fade problem? down the road due to no heat insulator between the diesel furnace and the . 30 tin hood... His sticker was a tad OVER $$$$40G, you would think they could throw in a $22 piece of foam paper...

Before adding the hood liner, heard the turbo spool at about 1800 rpm. Added the hood liner and it muffles the turbo. Much quieter to drive. Highly recommend along with rear wheel well liners. Gotta have those.
