Where and how have you guys mounted an underbed fan forced trans cooler? Have you plumbed it as the 1st cooler on the trans out line? Any pictures of the mounts? Any experiences as to stacked plate vs. tube & fin coolers, or does the relative difference really not matter that much? Thanks.

I do not have an additional trans cooler on my truck. However, I have had them on hot rods and installed many on friends' hot rods. It has been my experience that you route the line leaving the trans to the stock cooler inlet, from the stock cooler outlet to the aftermarket/auxiliary cooler inlet, from there to the trans return port. Thus allowing the fluid to be pre-cooled using the stock cooler prior to going into the "final" cooler. If you route it to the aftermarket unit first the fluid will get cooled and may get reheated upon introduction to the stock cooling unit. If you are in an area where temperatures become extremely cold you may wish to design a "by-pass" for the aftermarket system with a series of small ball valves. It's nice to keep the trans cool but, if the fluid is not allowed to come up to operating temps I had trannys shift real funny ;) Think back to this past winter how the trans shifted when you first start out in the morning . . . kind of like before you have your first cup of coffee.
