70 cfm:--) holy smokes. What mods need to be made to install that system?? Looks sweet. What the heck are you going to run with that much air??

System is involved and relatively expensive.

Haskel gas booster pump. Compress low to intermediate (500 psi and up) gas to high pressure (3000-6000 psi).

Compressor can run a jack hammer non-stop.

That is a sweet setup, but it looks like the oil filter will be a little tougher to change now. So what did the whole install run?

I alway's remove the intake hose from the air box to the turbo when I change my oil filter. No change with air compressor.

I did the install. I will not post product price but you can look here. Suffice to say it is expensive and time consuming to install.

Several other existing accessories required modification's before I could install air compressor component's. Specifically the Horton Fan Clutch.

jcbrown,

Thanks for the short cut, I did goto their homepage but it looks like I will have to email them on the price thing. As for the oil filter I don't remove the intake hose when I chang mine but it wouldn't be much of an inconvience loosening a clamp. For the time being I am useing a weenie electric ARB compressor. Yah... I am a little jealous! ;)

ARB compressor is in my future. Along with front and rear airlocker's. :)

Underhood air compressor is only for stationary application.

jcbrown,

Why is the under the hood compressor only for stationary applications? Why can't you use a air relays for the ARB's and airbags? Arn't you running an air tank with your compressor too?

I have a recip compressor on my 1996 Gas engine 2500 4X4 and it puts out around 28 CFM at 150 Psi. .

The kits around my area are about $10K Canadian installed. The warning I was given was that even though they say you don't need an air tank you need one to trap the water. . IN humid situations that screw compressor can make alot of water to clog your impact/drill or what have you. j

Nice install none the less.

Compressor oil/reservoir filter/seperator is built into the air tank.

The electronic's/pneumatic's control's engine RPM's!

Idle's @ 850 RPM's. Full load @ 2000 RPM's.

That's simply amazing-- and it makes perfect sense. Definitely one of those "why didn't I think of that" systems.

I guess I will have to wait until I win the lottery. For the suggested retail price of the vr70 kit I could buy ALL of this:

EDM injectors

HX50 hybrid

SBC dual disk clutch

DD Drag UFM

AFE mega cannon

Bank$ stainless exhaust

PLus, I would still have a grand left over to spendon the wife to convince her not to leave me after buying all these bombs.

J/K-- It may be pricey, but if you are in that kind of business, I can really see where it might actually be a great deal in the long run.

Looks like Kilby is more my speed and budget.

I have been looking for an air compressor to run an exhaust brake, air horns, and an air hose to inflate truck and RV tires etc. About $500 for a low volume 150psi continuous run 12V DC (Thomas TA4101-DC).

I did cave diving for a while and am familiar with Haskel compressors. They are really good units. We used them to mix different diving gas ratios. $10k Canadian = $6k US? approx?

VMac Compressor

I use the 70 CFM compressor daily on my service truck. This screw compressor really moves air. It has over 500 hours of run time on it without any problems. It can power two 1 inch impacts at the same time and pressure will not fall below 140 psi in the reservoir.

Hey JC Brown, you can adjust the high idle rpm down on the control box.

I run the Thomas on my Jeep, and have been looking for another one for the truck. Is anyone aware of any good sources--I'm kind of suffering from sticker shock from the only two sources I've been able to locate.

try www.onboardair.com look under the under hood kits. they make one for our trucks for about $500. it flows more than an electric and is run off a clutch so it only runs when needed. they can flow over 8cfm at 90psi.

The only thing with the onboard air compressor is that he doesn't have one for 94 to 98. 5. He hasn't had anyone who will leave that year truck there for 2 days so he can make the brackets for it then market them. I put out a call several months back for anyone interested but got no bites. I am driving down to the states this next winter for vacation and if someone hasn't done it by then I will incorporate 2 extra days for it.

JCBrown,

Is that with the Onboard air compressor? They use a York air conditioning compressor. I would love one of those VMAX's like yours but I can't justify the cost to use ratio. Besides, they don't list the price that I can find and I figure that if you have to ask, you can't afford it. Enjoy your air.
