Does the underhood insulation blanket serve any purpose other than noise dampening? The chipmunks have once again stuffed mine full of acorns--and it's only the first week of September! My first year with the truck(2000) they pulled out clumps of it and made nests ontop of the exhaust manifold. I'm thinking of yanking it out completely and hoping the little buggers don't go for wire insulation instead.

Mine has been gone since I went to the aftermarket hood. I never did like the darn thing anyway as all it did was get worse looking every year. So when I could not find a suitable replacement that was cost efficent I never had the pad installed on the new hood. The only one I found was made by Advanced Thermal Products and they are very expensive. On the 02 trucks Dodge never installed them either from the factory as I can remember way back then posts being placed here about things they left off of those trucks and that was one... ... . Andy
