Just replaced the rear shoes on my 94 2WD, and noticed that the driver side shoes were only half gone, while the other side was down close to the rivets. I though that was strange but could not explain a cause for it, shoes looked glazed over, so I said that's what kept them from wearing out.
After the new shoes, I noticed that the right rear tire would slide in a hard stop, not good. So I said, I now have a leaking wheel cylinder. This is after about 1000 miles on new shoes. Removed right rear drum, and dry as a bone. Normal dust, and shoes looked very good, uniform contact on both.
Now I am perplexed as to why this side is locking up, and just for the fun of it, (not much fun to get the drum off) I pull the drum off the other side and the shoes look like I just put them on. The front shoe is not even getting out to the drum, and the back shoe is just barely worn.
It looks like uneven hydraulic pressure, but I have no way at present to measure that. Factory service manual is no help for this type of problem.
Any ideas??????
