Hey Guys,

Last night my truck developed an odd, clicking type sound. It occurs irregularly. The best I could figure out is that it is coming from the rear end area, and is not the drive shaft (just had a new one installed anyways). ANYWAYS, I was poking around under the truck and I was shocked to see that the right rear rotor has HEAVY wear on the inside. I wouldn't be surprised if it is getting to the fins. I already ordered new rear pads & rotors, but I also need to figure out what caused this.

I assume this is caliper related. Would this be a result of an internal caliper problem, or just a sticky caliper guide? Anyone with experience with this? First time I have seen it. I am hoping it can be cured with some TLC and a caliper hardware kit, and I don't have to buy two new rear calipers, I am already going broke replacing everything neglected by the PO of this truck. Any help/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!

Every time ive seen that happen is been the Caliper slide pins and guides. you shouldnt have to buy new calipers, good luck!

What he said. Clean and lubricate the guide pins.

I saw an import at my buddies shop where the pad ate completely through one side of the vented disc and alost wore down the internal ribbing. It looked like a motorcycle front disc. The caliper's piston almost fell out. Lady said she didn't hear a thing.

My 04 has had 2 frozen calipers in the last 2 years. Both times it was the piston stuck in the bore. Be careful, the 2nd time one froze, it was right after I replaced the pads. The piston easily went back in the caliper, but stuck about a month later.
