Unknown Error Code

Recently took a 2500mi trip and had 2 rather catastrophic failures. Both occurred when exiting I-90 in Montana. As I decelerated, the check engine light came on, the engine got extremely rough, blew tons of black smoke, and could only limp along (unloaded) at 5mph or so.



The first time was with Smarty on Level 1. Restoring Stock got me running, but the CE light stayed on. 2nd time was on stock program. Sitting for an hour got me going again.



I retrieved an error code of P2146 "unknown. " Anyone know what that is?

Thanks for the quick reply, Bob. I think they built my truck with defective injectors or something. I'm at 65K miles and have already had 3 replaced.

Take apart and reconect your injector harness, could just be a bad connection. Since you have had 3 replaced, that is what I would check first, is the harness.

On the 06 I have seen the v/cover gasket fail giving that issue. Confirm the harness portion of the gasket is ok before going deeper.
