Pulled pan off to change filter / fluid, and found a wedge shaped item lying in the pan.

It is about 1 1/4 long, 3/4 wide with a notch in the smaller end.

The bigger (thicker) end has a cone (for lack of better description) cast into the part.

Any ideas ?????

Trans was not shifting into 2nd by itself, all other trans functions seem normal.

If you would prefer you can call me direct. 615-479-6076

Thanks

I found a drawing of the front band at it appears to be the front band anchor.

How difficult is it to put back in ??????????

Any help is greatly appreaciated.

I believe you have to remove the valve body to get to the band, the cone end of the wedge fits over the adjustment screw for the front band and the other end engages the end of the band. The adjustment screw is located on the drivers side of the transmission just above the shifter lever. There is a stationary piece on the other end of the band , do the adjustment on the band while the valve body is out so you can make sure the othere end is srcured. Note: You have to remove the shifter lever and the kickdown lever, after they are removed, clean the shift tower so dirt won't be pulled down into the transmission when the valve body is removed. bg

Also check and make sure the band is not broken. The same thing happened to my truck but what caused mine was the stationary brakets on my band bent strait up.

Thanks alot for the help guys. Here is what I found.

Band did not appear to have anything wrong on it. Not bent, warped, even the rivets / spot welds were intact.

Drum did not have any marks on it at all.

So my friend and I put her back together, of course adjusted the bands (front and rear )

She drives perfect. I guess I forgot how it was supposed to feel shifting into 2nd gear.

thanks again guys.
